Greenmarket Food Scrap (Compost) Collection Schedule

Every Sunday Lucas and I drop off our compost over at one of the Greenmarket collection sites

It is a pretty awesome concept. Usually I save our compostable food scraps in our freezer and by Sunday we do a drop off. Below are the current sites and times as indicated on their website. Also, keep in mind that there are specific items that are considered "compostable" and those that are NOT. If you are unsure, here is a list

It is great to help compost, it does a tremendous for our environment!

The Ever So Elegant Lafayette NY

Last Tuesday my husband and I had the chance to dine at Lafayette NY, an elegant French café and bakery located in the beautiful heart of NoHo. The design and decor is very Parisian and the food was beyond delectable and the overall customer service was very delightful. The entire experience exceeded my expectations. Their croissants are worthy of being devoured, especially the coconut, banana, chocolat croissant! It was pure heaven. The soft scrambled eggs were amazing and they had almond milk for our lattes!!!

I can't wait to go again! My new favorite date place with the husband. <3

Happy National Coffee Day!

In honor of National Coffee Day I had a hemp milk latte today at a beautiful coffee shop today located in the Upper West Side of Manhattan, called Birch.

I also, found a really awesome vegan coffee beverage from Whole Foods Market by Rawpothecary; a coffee protein shake with 18 grams of plant protein! It is nut-free and dairy-free!

How did you celebrate National Coffee Day?

My Friend's Art Exhibition: Allie Olson

This week I had an opportunity to view my good friend Allie Olson's pop-up solo art exhibition entitled TRANSPARENT.  I admire her work not just because she's a friend but because her work is backed by emotion, pain, love, sensitivity, and curiosity.

One of the many things that I have always loved about Allie is her willingness to learn and soak up new experiences. Her work also expresses her desire to overcome adversities and delve into the world of infinite possibilities.

I love it. I encourage you all to take a look at Ms. Allie Olson's work, because she is living her dream and her passion. You all can find and live your passions too. Don't accept the roles society hands to you. You can have so much more.

Happy healthy living!

My Cousin's Beautiful Wedding

Last Saturday I attended my cousin's beautiful wedding. It was a blast and I enjoyed seeing my gorgeous family members. We are all so spread out geographically; so it is always a pleasure when we can come together.

My cousin looked amazing. Here are some pictures from that day. Congratulations Andrea and Alex!

Beach Day...

Since Lucas is off from camp this week, we decided to take do a beach day. We chose Coney Island due to its ease to get to. It was a week day so it wasn't overly congested. It served as a quick getaway without the need to rent a car, drive out, and deal with traffic. We had fun, built a sand castle, flew a kite, found seashells and rocks, and jumped into the ocean. My blowout was no longer a blowout once we arrived. The humidity and moisture had a field day with my hair, but it still looked cool, lol! Oh well...

Fun day in the sun with my loves!

Sunday Was Like....

Had a very simple Sunday today. Lucas and I dropped off our compost earlier, while Greg was working, we then attended a kid's show hosted by the Central Park Conservatory, and ended the evening with dinner at Community located in Morningside Heights, here in Manhattan. Below are some of the highlights.

I hope you had a glorious day as well!

Movie Night: Mary Poppins On Another Island

One of the awesome aspects of living in NYC as a parent is that there are never ending events, programs, and activities to do!  I often use sites like Mommypoppins.com to find out daily events here in Manhattan. The pictures here are from today's movie night on Roosevelt Island that featured the classic film, Mary Poppins. We did unfortunately, loose Lucas' stuffed monkey somewhere along our trek. Despite that, It was fun overall.  We had a good time and ended with a tram ride back into Manhattan. Oh and yes, I did blow out my hair. Hopefully it doesn't get too frizzy as the days progress. :-)

It was yet another glorious evening here in NYC.

Another Monday...

I was fortunate to spend my morning with my husband while our son was in camp. We decided to stop by an old favorite historical DJ shop, Rock & Soul. It is known as  "one of New York City's longest standing independent record stores, and is among the oldest and most famous DJ shops in the world". We checked out some vinyl records and mixers.

After that we headed toward Riverside Drive and fell in love with a gorgeous sail boat at the dock, which we snapped this lovely photo below.

All in all, it was a glorious Monday. Namaste day to you!

4th of July At The South Street Seaport

For the 4th of July we decided to head down to the South Street Seaport. I must admit, it wasn't the best view but it was comfortable and had a great ambiance.  There were a plethora of food vendors, live music, restrooms, and space to lay out. As a parent that was ideal.

We found this one food vendor called Chickpea & Olive  that had the most incredible vegan beet burgers! Omg! I am craving them some more! They also have a gluten-free menu!

Hope you had a wonderful holiday!
